Dancers And Confident Movers Wanted For Photo Shoot Next Week

Looking for 6-10 people for 2-3 hour photo shoot next week (M-F May 10-14).
Location: Along 14th Street - Specific meeting place TBA.

Potential to be cast in performances in the Fall.
Small stipend available for photo shoot.

Must come with a bright, solid-colored top and dark, full-length pants. Jeans ok, but would prefer slacks. No leggings. (See images below for example.)

Proposal for "RGB Y"

"Red Green Blue Yellow" is both a dance and a ground painting created by festival-goers and performers through structured improvisation over the course of the afternoon. "RGB Y" is a study in the visualization of movement and choreography, an experiment in participatory art as well as a way to engage people in dance through painting. The piece is intended for audiences of all ages and levels of physical ability.

A series of "loosly structured, improvised" ground paintings will be created over the course of the afternoon with the help festival-goers following a set of simple instructions.

After each canvas is created, dancers will perform a short structured improvisation or the public will be invited to dance on the canvas.

Masking tape and layers of translucent primer will be used to create a layering effect so that the canvases build on each other to culminate in a multi-layered ground painting by the end of the evening.

Materials
- 1 stage (at least 8x8)
- 1 canvas (covering the stage)
- Non-toxic powdered pigments
- Various ways to dispense paint will be provided: Sifters, funnels, etc
- White duct tape
- Clear latex primer and rollers
- Tyvek booties
- Laptop
- Stereo system

Multiverse on 14th is 3 poems celebrating 14th Street that are programmatically constructed from the live, public Twitter feed.

You can experience Multiverse on 14th on the web at: http://multiverse.caketoo.us

An act of incidental collaboration, each line is from a different author: musing, observing, ranting, and disclosing mundane, unexpected and momentous details of their lives to the public at large.

The poems were projected into the little fountain on the Southwest corner of Union Square Park over three consecutive evenings, transforming the fountain into a temporary well of private thoughts.

Lifedreaming

Inspired by Australian Aboriginal ground paintings which trace the paths of myth animals, three dancers create a ground painting over the course of three solos and one trio. Each dancer represents a different myth animal: Rainbow Snake, Bralgah Bird and Red Kangaroo. Each "animal" moves over ground in its own distinct way and as a result, each solo adds a distinct texture to the painting.

Presented by Chelsea Studio Gallery in New York, NY and the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, CT.
